The Fleshlight (also marketed as the Fleshjack) is a sex toy designed and marketed by lifestyles Interactive (ILF) [1]. Fleshlight The name comes from the flesh-like material used in its internal sleeve and the plastic case that houses the sleeve, which is seen as a way for oversized flashlight. The interior is available in sleeve with vagina, anus, buttocks, mouth and a more discreet slot shaped hole. All interior sleeves also come in a choice of various colors and textures inside.
The Fleshlight was designed by former police officer Steve Shubin who was suffering a period of enforced abstinence, while his wife was in a high-risk pregnancy. [2] was granted a patent for his invention in 1998, as a “discreet semen collection device” [3].

The Fleshlight is stated to be given to medical and food grade, free of phthalates polymers. [4] According to the website Fleshlight, not the insert is made of latex, plastic or silicone. The Fleshlight FAQ [5] claims the material is “a secret society that embraces a number of U.S. patents” but according to the patent itself (which is public), the elastomer material is a gel that is formed from a mixture of 90-94% weight plasticizing oil and 5-9% by weight of a copolymer block that includes a mixture of styrene ethylene butylene styrene block and a copolymer of ethylene, propylene, styrene block copolymer of styrene combined in a ratio of 15 to 51. Because the chemical composition of this material is only suitable for use with water-based lubricants such as oil-based lubricants and soaps will damage the material permanently. The clear or “ice” is significantly color insert “rigidity” that the normal colour due to lack of pigment.

The Fleshjack brand was launched in April 2007. Fleshjack is essentially the same as a Fleshlight, but specifically geared toward the male homosexual population.
